SJ101 is a typical fluorine basic agglomerated submerged arc welding flux. It appears as grayish-white granular particles. It's mainly used for automatic submerged arc welding of carbon steel and low alloy structural steel, and widely applied in engineering projects with strict requirements on weld reliability, such as pressure vessels, large storage tanks, bridge steel structures and ship components.
During welding, SJ101 flux provides effective metallurgical purification for the molten pool. It controls the content of harmful elements such as sulfur and phosphorus in weld metal, greatly improves the low temperature impact toughness of welds and reduces the risk of cold cracks generated in multi layer welding of thick plates. It's highly suitable for continuous multi layer and multi pass welding of heavy load pressure bearing components. The welding arc burns steadily, and the molten slag spreads evenly, continuously isolating air to protect the high temperature molten pool. The weld bead has full and smooth formation with regular surface texture.
For working conditions involving repeated surfacing welding on thick plates, this flux delivers stable slag removal performance. The molten slag lifts naturally after the weld bead cools down and can be stripped off easily. It greatly reduces slag cleaning time in multi layer welding and improves on site welding efficiency. The flux granules feature good mechanical strength; they are not easy to pulverize during transportation, recovery and reuse with low dust generation, suitable for long uninterrupted operation on automatic production lines.
