SJ301 is a silicon-calcium type agglomerated submerged arc welding flux with grey-black spherical particles. It's mainly used for automatic submerged arc welding of carbon steel and low-alloy structural steel. It shows outstanding advantages in circumferential joint welding for steel pipes, pressure vessel shells and pipeline components, and is widely applied in projects such as pipeline fabrication, boiler barrels and steel structure processing, where consistent weld appearance and reliable non-destructive test results are required.
During welding, SJ301 delivers a stable electric arc. It features moderate slag viscosity and a short-slag system. When performing circumferential welding on barrels and steel pipes, the slag resists sagging and flowing down. It can continuously cover and protect the high-temperature molten pool, avoiding common defects of circumferential welds such as sliding slag and uneven weld profile. The weld bead has smooth transitions with uniform and attractive surface ripples. Its metallurgical reactions are mild and controllable. When matched with H08A or H08MnA welding wires, the deposited metal maintains stable mechanical properties, meeting the requirements for strength, plasticity and impact toughness of ordinary pressure-bearing components.
For working conditions including mass continuous circumferential welding, multi-wire high-speed welding and double-sided single-pass welding, this flux offers excellent slag removal performance. The slag tends to lift and peel off easily after welding, cutting down manual slag cleaning time and boosting production line efficiency. The flux particles have good mechanical strength. They aren't prone to crushing and powdering during conveying and recycling, generating low dust. It suits long uninterrupted production with automatic submerged arc welding equipment.
